10/22/2020 - SPECIAL NOTICE:
We want to take the opportunity to let you know about what’s new at ECOG in lieu of the COVID-19 situation. Some of what we will be doing is the same as what we have been doing. Other changes reflect a bit of a return to normal (Yay!). Other changes are brand new. Here is what you need to know:
Worship Services Will Occur in the Sanctuary Sundays at 8:00 & 10:45 AM Starting Nov. 1
In addition to the 10:45 AM Worship Service, the 8:00 AM Worship Service will resume November 1. With the 10:45 AM Service drawing approximately 100 persons in attendance, some worshipers may prefer to attend a service with a much smaller crowd which allows for greater social distancing. If you are attending Sunday School on Zoom at 9:00 AM, then we don’t recommend you come to the 8:00 AM Service; it would be impossible for virtually anyone to return home and log onto Zoom. We will continue to encourage worshipers to wear masks and make use of the touchless hand-sanitizer stations that we now offer. Several of the pews will continue to be roped off. Please sit only in the areas so designated. An offering box will continue to be provided on the Deacon’s Table in the back of the Sanctuary where worshipers can place their tithes and offerings. Offerings may also be placed in one of the two metal offering boxes located at the upper and lower level entrances to the building. If you are not comfortable coming into the building but still want to be present with God’s people on Sunday mornings, you are welcome to worship outside by staying in your car and tuning into 89.9 FM on the radio.
Worship Services Will Continue Online - Available All Day Long Every Sunday
Knowing that staying home is still the best option for those with acute health risks and compromised immune systems, we will continue to offer an online Worship Service on Sonshine TV (ECOG’s YouTube Channel) every Sunday beginning at 10:30 AM. This service will be a recording of the 8:00 AM Sanctuary Service. These will be made available at 10:30 AM and remain available for your viewing throughout the rest of the day.
We Have Resumed Printing Bulletins
Bulletins will still be available for download as an alternative to hard copies. You may download and print a paper copy before coming to worship or you can download a copy into your phone or tablet at the church facilities. Paper copies of bulletins are now provided by the church at Sanctuary Worship Services. Bulletins are being placed near the entrances to the Sanctuary; we will not ask our Greeters to hand them out. At the end of each Worship Service, PLEASE take your bulletin with you. Please do not put your bulletin back on the pile from which it came. Also, please do not leave bulletins on the pews or inside hymnals or Bibles because the Officer of the Day or a staff member would have to retrieve them. In lieu of the pandemic, this is not fair to those persons. Please note that The Sonshine News will continue to be offered only online.
Some Sunday School Classes Are Meeting In-person; Others are Still on Zoom
We do not have enough help to staff a fully-functional in-person Sunday School. These Adult classes will continue to meet on Zoom ONLY Sundays at 9:00 AM: Seekers in Christ, Parenting and “The Group” Young Adults. The following Sunday School classes are now meeting in person at the Church at 9:15 AM Sundays at the Church and on Zoom: Willing Ambassadors (in the Fellowship Hall and on Zoom) and Godly Relationships (in Room #4 and on Zoom). Youth and Children’s classes are still closed. Parents of Preschoolers and Elementary Students are encouraged to have their children view video Bible Lessons premiering on Facebook Live each Sunday morning. Preschool lessons premier at 9:00 AM and Elementary lessons at 9:30 AM. Those lessons are later posted on our YouTube Channel, Sonshine TV. Parents are also encouraged to make use of the age-appropriate Children’s Activity Sheets available on our website, here.
Kids’ Worship and Nursery will Continue Sundays During the 10:45 AM Sanctuary Service
Kids’ Worship will continue during the 10:45 AM Sanctuary Worship Service. Kids’ Worship will take place in one large-group gathering coordinated by our Director of Children’s Ministries. The location may change depending on the number of children attending. Nursery care will resume during the 10:45 AM Worship Service in the Nursery. Parents are asked to bring toys for their children; our Nursery coordinators have removed some of the toys from the Nursery due to COVID-19 concerns.
Wednesday Evenings for Adults and 412 Youth Will Continue
Our 412 Youth Group meets in-person Wednesday evenings beginning at 7:00 PM either in the Pavilion, Fellowship Hall or Youth Room. Adult Bible Study meets in person Wednesday evenings in Room #4 at 7:00 PM. These same Adult Bible Study sessions are broadcast live on Facebook Live. They are available the following day on Sonshine TV (our YouTube Channel). We are NOT holding Kids’ Klub Wednesday evenings yet.
Sunday Evening Prayer Services Will Continue Sunday Evening
Prayer Services are held in the Sanctuary allowing for attendees to spread out if desired. The purpose of our Prayer Services is to pray for the purpose, vision, and ministries of the Enola First Church of God and for revival in God’s church. Prayer Services are be held most Sunday evenings at 7:00 PM except for holiday weekends and when the weather is inclement. Log onto our online calendar at to see if a Prayer Service is being held on a given Sunday evening.
Other Matters to Be Aware of:
-Fellowship events may still be held at the church provided no home-made food items are brought to share. All food items shared at church-sponsored fellowship events must meet either one of the following two categories: One, participants may bring pre-packaged un-opened storebought items. Two, volunteers may prepare food items at the church and serve them. NOTE: This only applies to church-sponsored events. Those using the facilities for private events are exempt from this policy.
-There will be no Coffee House events for the rest of the year.
-There will be no Harvest Home Dinner this year. -Regular office hours will not resume until further notice.
-Ministry and Service Teams may continue to meet in the building.
So that’s what’s going on here at ECOG. We all look forward to the day when things return to normal. For now, let’s keep on keepin’ on being the body of Christ and make the best of the situation we are in. God has a plan – all we need to do is trust Him!
