6/29/2020 - SPECIAL NOTICE REGARDING JULY & AUGUST, 2020:
Worship Services will resume in the Sanctuary on July 5, 2020 at 10:45 AM.
We will hold one in-person Sunday Morning Worship Service in the Sanctuary at 10:45 AM beginning July 5 and continuing up through at least September 6, 2020. Why still 10:45 AM instead of 10:15 or 8:00 AM? All Adult Sunday School classes are meeting on Zoom; most of which are meeting Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM. We want to be sure that Sunday School participants can be a part of their classes and have ample time to come to church. The services will last about an hour or so. We encourage the wearing of masks but this will not be required since some are not comfortable doing so. We also encourage everyone to make use of hand sanitizer that will be provided at various places in the building. The Board has directed that the seating be limited so that the Sanctuary can only be filled to 50% capacity. You will notice that various pews will be roped off. Please sit only in the areas so designated. Although it will be tempting to do so, hand-shaking and hugs will be strongly discouraged. We will not pass offering plates. An offering box will be provided on the Deacon’s Table in the back of the Sanctuary where worshipers can place their tithes and offerings. Offerings may also be placed in one of the two metal offering boxes located at the upper and lower level entrances to the building. Bulletins with the order of worship, announcements and song lyrics will be available for download. You may download and print a paper copy before coming to worship or you can download a copy into your phone or tablet at the church facilities. Paper copies of bulletins will not be provided at Worship Services. Words to song lyrics will be displayed on the screen during the Sanctuary service. Those who prefer to worship in the building in a location other than the Sanctuary are welcome to worship in other designated areas. Parents with children may want to make use of these areas since we will not be providing Kids’ Worship or Nursery. Per our Child Protection Policy, parents or guardians must remain with their children in those areas. Here are those designated alternative areas:
Living Room: For anyone - Audio & Visual of Service - Near bathrooms with infant changing facilities
Lobby: For anyone - Audio Only of Service - Living room style seating
Upper Room: For anyone - Audio Only of Service - Living room style seating
Chapel: For parents w/ children - Audio Only of Service - Tables and chairs available
Children’s Room: For parents w/ young children - Audio Only of Service - Children’s restroom, small children’s table and toys available
Nursery: - For parents w/ Toddlers and infants - Audio Only of Service - Children’s restroom, toys and infant changing station available
All other classrooms and the Youth Room will be locked during the 10:45 AM Worship Service. Other than staff, worship service participants, and Board members, no one should use the office, kitchen or the rest of the inside facilities. Though we cannot offer Kids’ Worship, our Director of Children’s Ministries will continue to provide disposable “Busy Bags” with activities for children. If you are not comfortable coming into the building but still want to be present with God’s people on Sunday mornings, you are welcome to worship outside by staying in your car, going to the pavilion (please bring your own chair and a radio) or sitting under a shade tree in the yard (again, bring a radio!). The service will continue to be broadcast on 89.9 FM.
Worship Services will continue Online – available all day long every Sunday.
Knowing that staying home is still the best option for those with acute health risks and compromised immune systems, we will continue to offer an online Worship Service on Sonshine TV (ECOG’s YouTube Channel) every Sunday through at least September 6 and possibly beyond. This will be a pre-recorded service featuring the same themes and Scriptures of the Sanctuary Service. It will be made available at 12:01 AM on Sundays and available for your viewing all day long at the time of your choosing.
Other Matters to Be Aware of:
-Bulletins and the July and August editions of “The Sonshine News” will be published online only during this time period. Shut-ins will receive paper copies of “The Sonshine News.”
-Regular office hours will not resume.
-Ministry and Service Teams are now permitted to meet in the building.
-Child Evangelism Fellowship Camp and the Church Picnic have been cancelled.
Virtual Sunday School: As mentioned above, our Adult Sunday School Classes are now meeting on Zoom. Please contact your Sunday School teacher or our Director of Discipleship Ministries, Pastor Sandi Baney, for more information regarding when your class is meeting and how you can participate. Adult Sunday School classes will remain on Zoom up through September 6, 2020.
The Following Events Are Still Suspended Until Further Notice: Regular Office Hours (you can call for an appointment to meet with a staff member) and some Fellowship Events. The Lead Pastor and Elders will continue to suspended hospital and Nursing Home visits until such facilities permit visitation.
4/11/2020 - NOTICE OF STAFF HOURS REDUCTIONS: Per their request, two ECOG staff members will have their weekly working hours reduced during the remainder of the COVID-19 situation. Secretary Marilyn Zahora will be working half of her normal hours from home. Children's Ministries Director, Taylor Whitcomb will have her hours reduced by 55%. These staff members will return to their normal working hours when the church resumes its normal operations. All other staff will continue to work their normal hours weekly.
3/26/2020 - WANNA MAKE FACE MASKS? - As many of you know, the medical community is in need of face masks. ECOG's very own Diana Bridges is working in connection with a local group here in our area to make face masks. If any of you have been blessed by God with the ability to sew, making face masks is a great way to serve that you may want to consider. According to Diana, she works at home alone with her sewing machine (not with a group - that's not advisable at this point). The masks she makes consist of material, an elastic band and a piece of a furnace filter. All masks are then bagged in Ziploc bags and transported to local drop off points. If God has blessed you with the talent of sewing and you would like to serve in this manner, please contact Diana. If you need her phone number, look in the church directory or contact Pastor Jensen (for her privacy, we will not give out her number in public). Please direct all questions to her - the staff and leadership are not knowledgeable enough in this area to answer your questions but Diana definitely is. Thank you and many blessings to all who are serving people and our Lord in creative ways like this!
Opportunities to Serve or Be Served: Our Lead Pastor is serving as the point of contact regarding opportunities to serve or be served during the COVID-19 crisis. If you are in need of assistance, call him directly. His cell phone number is available on the church answering service. If you are willing to serve those who are in need during this crisis, please contact the Lead Pastor. Click here for more information on ways available for you to serve or be served.
May the Lord bless each and every one of you with good health and opportunities to share Jesus with others during these uncertain and unprecedented times.
