8/27/2020 - SPECIAL NOTICE REGARDING FALL 2020:
We want to take the opportunity to let you know about what’s happening at ECOG this Fall in lieu of the COVID-19 situation. Some of what we will be doing is the same as what we have been doing. Other changes reflect a bit of a return to normal (Yay!). Other changes are brand new. Here is what you need to know:
In-person Sunday School is Still on Hold Most Likely Through the End of the Year
We do not have enough help to staff a fully-functional in-person Sunday School. However, Adult Sunday School classes will continue on Zoom. See your teacher for details about your class. Parents of Preschoolers and Elementary Students are encouraged to have their children view video Bible Lessons premiering on Facebook Live each Sunday morning. Preschool lessons premier at 9:00 AM and Elementary lessons at 9:30 AM. Those lessons are later posted on our YouTube Channel, Sonshine TV. Parents are also encouraged to make use of the age-appropriate Children’s Activity Sheets available on our website, www.enolacog.com.
In-person Worship Services Will Continue in the Sanctuary Sundays at 10:45 AM
We will continue to hold one in-person Sunday Morning Worship Service in the Sanctuary at 10:45 AM throughout the Fall and probably to the end of the year. The 10:45 start time allows those attending Sunday School on Zoom time to come to the Sanctuary for worship. Should the Sanctuary fill up and become a bit “crowded” due to the reduced seating, the leadership will start another Worship Service in the Sanctuary at an alternative time. We will continue to invite worshipers to wear masks and make use of the touchless hand-sanitizer stations that we now offer. Several of the pews will continue to be roped off. Please sit only in the areas so designated. An offering box will continue to be provided on the Deacon’s Table in the back of the Sanctuary where worshipers can place their tithes and offerings. Offerings may also be placed in one of the two metal offering boxes located at the upper and lower level entrances to the building. Bulletins with the order of worship and announcements will be available for download. You may download and print a paper copy before coming to worship or you can download a copy into your phone or tablet at the church facilities. Paper copies of bulletins will not be provided at Worship Services this Fall. However, we will display the order of worship and “This Week in Enola” on the screen prior to the start of the service. Words to song lyrics will be displayed on the screen during the Sanctuary service. Effective September 13, those who prefer to worship in the building in a location other than the Sanctuary are welcome to worship in the following alternative areas: The Upper Room and the Lobby. The Youth Room and other lower-level classrooms not in use during the service will be locked. If you are not comfortable coming into the building but still want to be present with God’s people on Sunday mornings, you are welcome to worship outside by staying in your car, going to the pavilion (please bring your own chair and a radio) or sitting under a shade tree in the yard (again, bring a radio!). The service will continue to be broadcast on 89.9 FM.
Kids’ Worship and Nursery Care will Resume Sundays Beginning September 13
Beginning September 13, Kids’ Worship will resume during the 10:45 AM Sanctuary Worship Service. Kids’ Worship will take place in one large-group gathering coordinated by our Director of Children’s Ministries. The location will be announced. Nursery care will resume during the 10:45 AM Worship Service in the Nursery. Parents are asked to bring toys for their children; our Nursery staff will be removing the majority of the toys from the Nursery due to COVID-19 concerns.
Worship Services Will Continue Online – Available All Day Long Every Sunday
Knowing that staying home is still the best option for those with acute health risks and compromised immune systems, we will continue to offer an online Worship Service on Sonshine TV (ECOG’s YouTube Channel) every Sunday this Fall. This will be a pre-recorded service featuring the same themes and Scriptures of the Sanctuary Service. These will be made available at 12:01 AM on Sundays and available for your viewing all day long at the time of your choosing.
Wednesday Evenings for Adults and 412 Youth Will Resume This Fall
Our 412 Youth Group will meet in-person Wednesday evenings beginning September 2 at 7:00 PM. Weather permitting, Youth meetings will occur in the Pavilion. If the weather is inclement, the Youth will meet in the Fellowship Hall. Adult Bible Study will meet in person Wednesday evenings in Room #4 at 7:00 PM beginning September 9. Also, these same Adult Bible Study sessions will tentatively be broadcast online (most likely on Facebook Live). We may be able to post recordings of Adult Bible Study sessions on Sonshine TV (our YouTube Channel). More details will be coming closer to the time. We will NOT be holding Kids’ Klub Wednesday evenings this Fall until further notice.
Sunday Evening Prayer Services Will Resume September 13
Beginning September 13 at 7:00 PM, Sunday Evening Prayer Services will be held in the Sanctuary allowing for attendees to spread out if desired. As always, the purpose of our Prayer Services will be to pray for the purpose, vision, and ministries of the Enola First Church of God along with the needs of those present. The ministry will be coordinated by Elder Mark Ensminger. Those leading our Prayer Services will include the Elders, various gifted teachers within the church and Pastor Jensen. We are working on a way to allow people to (hopefully) log onto Zoom and participate in a given Prayer Service from home if they are not comfortable coming into the Sanctuary. Prayer Services will be held most Sunday evenings except for holiday weekends and when the weather is inclement. Log onto our online calendar at to see if a Prayer Service will be held on a given Sunday evening.
Other Matters to Be Aware of: -Fellowship events may still be held at the church provided no home-made food items are brought to share. All food items shared at fellowship events must meet either one of the following two categories: One, participants may bring pre-packaged un-opened store-bought items. Two, volunteers may prepare food items at the church and serve them. -Regular office hours will not resume. -Ministry and Service Teams may continue to meet in the building. So that’s how our Fall is shaping up here at ECOG! We all look forward to the day when things return to normal. For now, let’s keep on keepin’ on being the body of Christ and make the best of the situation we are in. God has a plan – all we need to do is trust Him!
